Jabbers at Midway
We HAD to get over to the Midway for the F.U.'s Jabbers show this past Friday night...things got outta hand and we were late, so we missed the F.U.s...I am sure they were awesome!! But we got to see The Stretchers and The Jabbers....and that was excellent as it was...
Wimpy on the floor     The Stretchers call themselves "Frankie Sin" the singer, "Jimmy Foul" on drums and "E-Wreck" on bass....and just as their names imply they are old school punk...and doing a great job at it!! Loads of songs, delivered without delay.....all straight ahead old school and very much Misfits, Sex Pistols and Clash inspired so we weren't surprised when they closed the set with "Police on my Back". On the Misfits side of things they had a song called "My Girlfriend is a Cyclops". I think another guitar could perk things but they were a good opening band. ..... they have their own awesome CD out and you can download it or purchase the disk at Interpunk

The tension mounts as the Jabbers start to set up. Some gigs by these guys end early for all sorts of reasons. Just the previous week some club pulled the plug on them. The club owner just couldn't take it. What we wonder will be in store tonight? ..... and holy shite people they sounded AWESOME!!! Like a big hulking seething bastard ready to deliver a few painful blows they took over the room and owned it! They sounded amazingly good and powerful and I always enjoy watching Wimpy perform, the other guys in the band seem to be off in their own world. The lead guitarist was a little buried in the mix but he added a lot of nice scrunch into the fray which gave the group a powerful wall of sound. ...and Wimpy's always in the audience with the fans putting himself in the line of fire.....and spit....and beer....and I always wonder - why do I like a band who repeatedly shouts, sings, and gestures FUCK YOU at me for 40 minutes straight? I'm sick, but I don't mind it at all.

Now I hear from Jabbers guitarist Chris Lamy that they are going to be doing a Christmas show at The Midway with the F.U.s on Friday, December 23rd...with a specially built manger for Wimpy!! Oh yeah mark the calendars now I say becuase that spells do not miss to me!!
