Jiblantos were up first at The Midway early show on January 17. Since I'm in the band, I'll have to plead the fifth on the performance. Local poet and writer Joe Torra and his Lou and Heartbreakers lovin' new band, The First Supper, rocked on their inaugural gig. Black Souls seem to take it up a notch every show. The crowd let them know it. Trusty Sidekick was excellent. The little big band with acoustic guitar, violin and lap steel enrich a familiar but twisted sound. Tim Carey's incantations. Great, concise jams. What was that sea shanty tune sunk down under the ocean. Nice.
