| 1/1/2024 Monday, February 5, 202"Freitag 2 Feb 2024. Somehow Facebook announceed the demise
of Brother Wayne Kramer. Somehow Labour Day weekend
'72, I had acquired Kick out the Jams and was enamored
by "ramblin' rose" so much, I MADE O. Rex record it on
a Gulcher cd. Umpty-nine MC5 covers later etc and I DID see Wayne
Kramer and his faux-Five play the Paradise. I was hangin' wid Jabber
Rob Basso, whom had recorded wid Kramer and drummer Dennis Thompson
wid my sixth cuzzin Jesus Christ Allin. Dennis the drummer only
one left alive of that lot, just like Iggy is last remaining Stooge.
              RIP Wayne Kramer!"....

              "saturday 3 feb 2024. 88 rewind WMBR. 5 feb 62 (drinkin'
da camp lejeune water) and survey sez KEEL,710 AM, shreveport,
                lousiana. lotsa great r &b ,natch'lly but 0648: "I'm
blue (the gong gong song) by the ikettes. My parents had this
45! Ma sez they gave away some r&b records with a box of potato
chips, this was maybe 1964 Manassas virginia. I decided to wikipedia
this and Tina Turner is background vocals! "lead vocal by
                Delores Johnson" (Hopelessly Obscure Ikette).
As a young lad whom were still fightin' both Civil and Sybil War
and hadnt not yet heard the Beatles, her voice was PENETRATIN'!
                it would be 21 sept 68, 99 state street,brockport NY before i
heard a voice that intense; i.e. two Big Brother 45s, "piece
of my heart" and "down on me" (89 cent plus nickle
tax at a Main street drugstore!). ok, so i missed Crow Follows
but the Ikettes at 0648, my whole day was already "Maid of
                sugar, maid of spice!"...
Thursday, February 8, 2024 Sonntag 4 Feb 2024. Middle east upstairs 6-10 pm show. Dead
Harrison opened up. Schmel Herbie Hind
said Happy the Clown played with them. Bassist is Mr. Lucretia
Dagger. They were kinda goth/metal/heavy BUT Sharon Crumrine
liked and pointed out their high a capella harmonies, so nice
contast and good band. I also enjoyed Force us to Stop.
Guitarist played in a Zeppelin/grunge/Goth vein, mainest riff
bein' "nobody's fault but mine"; this is kinda the Physical
Graffitti era but still Goth (huh?) Singer was interesting too,
playing a bit of keyboards but mostly doing flamboyant "Move
like Jagger" moves. Ginger Ibex headlined
and in attendance was me, Schmel Herbie Hind and the Post-Moderns
drummer. Notes: "Britney Spears cover" that Sharon Crumrine
said sounded nothin' like Britney and was instrumental, so, like
the Dead Lennons, I was in The Dark. Fantastic double violin playing
by Betty and Mal, which Schmel said "ELO"
(never thught of that infleunce, but hey! Greg Shaw at United artists
sent my fanzine Rock On a promo lp first ELO with Roy
Wood and as a major Move fan, it DID "pick up where "i
am the walrus" left off"). Ginger Ibex
is a cat-lovin' band! Thus a toon name "catnip". Last
two numbers Sharon Crumrine played flute, then
final toon Sharon sang, Mal played piano. One last comment: Crow
Follow's drummer commented drumming was good and dudes: dese ladies
got SERIOUS music degrees....me "Roll over beethoven, tell
                Ginger Ibex da newz"...

                  | Dead Harrisons | Force Us To Stop |     Friday, February 9, 2024Monntag 5 feb 2024. 0500, channel two PBS. YET another episode of
Funny Woman, so let's cut to my favourite scene
of this splendid Absoultely Fabulus meets Austin Powers modfest:
the telly show crew enters a SWINGIN' nightclub as Jefferson Airplane's
"Somebody to love" BLARES, then the gang gets offered
tabs of "LSD for brekkie" and you hear Pink Floyd's "Insterstellar
overdrive" play as everyone has PSych-Out level acid trips.
I wuz stationed in charlestown SC and wuz in a charity shoppe and
snagged BOTH Pink Floyd Tower albums a quarter apiece back in '79...Psychedelic
Southerners? hmmmm.....ask the 13th floor elevators with Roky bein'
"Leader of da Gang, he em"...

during all those "whoos!"?; well, it was "a hard
day's night"! Hearing those Speciality 45s i used to own blaring
through the telly soundin' like da Sonics singin' "jailbait
