John Felice Interview

There was never any denying that The Real Kids were one of the greats, even at the beginning. Hearing the songs and the performances in the mid-seventies was an experience that had a lasting effect for all of us. It’s over 40 years now and it’s all the more clear that the music of the Real Kids was as important as we thought.

Our original interview with The Real Kids happened in 1978. This time around we talk to John Felice alone. We dig deep and the interview is long. It covers a lot of material and a lot of time. John talks about the songs, the drugs, his health, the business deals and Jonathan Richmond, and in enough detail that you see his life view. It's a pretty amazing stuff.

It's finally here a Conversation with John Felice

It was a little bit of a stab in the dark on Wednesday at O’Briens. We thought we’d hit the early bands for a fast hit. Elephants were indie influenced but with a good kick. They covered a Guided by Voices song and did a fine job on that. It was an enjoyable set. Their Bandcamp page is representative of what they do live.

Then there was The Eradicator from Chicago. Their web sites says, “The Eradicator is a punk band devoted to the classic Kids in the Hall sketch of the same name.” That’s a sort of red flag right there. The other one was the computer on stage for backup tracks.
The lights go down and out of the nearby bathroom pops out The Eradicator; a guy in a ski mask and a tennis racket. Now we see it’s only one guy. He starts his spiel, “I’m the Eradicator, this is my group (his hands indicating an empty stage) called – The Eradicator. I have a CD for sale called – The Eradicator. This is my first song – Eradicator." His second song was called, I Am the Eradicator.
All of that is funnier in the retelling. And that was it for us. Facebook page

Saturday it was another chance to rock on the South Shore with a Brockton Hardcore Punk run show at Dylan’s in Brockton. Dylan’s is a newish square building housing a big bar and serving bar food. It’s built like a warehouse with a corrugated steel ceiling. They have a good sized outside deck. The music room was a big square also. People are lined along the wall and the whole middle is empty for the moshers that are sure to appear.

Cold Dayz play a sludgy metal hardcore. The moshers get out there.....and they are intense and of the furious arm swinger ilk. With the setup it was important to get to a safe place (for us anyway). The video above gives a slice of the action.

We didn’t stay for more but we do love having these Brockton shows.

(at Club Bohemia 5.18.2017) Arthur Freedman caught some interesting bands he wanted to share at Club Bohemia this week on Thursday. ...Stephie Peeking & Seeking 7 and The Last Second
