Stupidity

Store 54

March 19, 2016

Stupidity

Stupidity came to Store 54 for their first US show of their current tour. It's the usual pray to St. Christopher for parking Allston Saturday night. The band had made the rounds of radio stations for the past 24. The crowd is a bit thin but enthusiastic. The band walks the record aisles and chips up the crowd. These guys aren't brand new so they arrive with their Swedish garage rock fully formed.

Stupidity

If you are up front at Store 54 you are pretty much on stage. When the band has it going on the energy hits the crowd in real time. The don't waste time to make that point. They introduce themselves with the tune "On Fire" from their 2014 Fore disk. You can only make a first impression once. Norman Vincent Peel would have liked the technique.

Stupidity

Stupidity hit hard quick and catchy. The vocals have a growl and kick that propel everything up and out and pull the crowd in. The bass riffs and drum keep the forward motion on a tight line. The snare don't take no slack. The call and response background vocals set up that always pleasing tension and release. The rhythm guitar riffs hit the hips. The solos are quick coiled cobra strikes.

Stupidity take a swipe at "Good Guys Don't Wear White". Put these guys on a bill with the Standells or the Woggles and set the room on fire!
